maybe but I can't see a world where they just hang out in the X-Mansion either. I don't think Maddy should have had Jeans role in the story it was just sold as Maddy having a role in reacting to Cable's death and she didn't. While getting even with Jean shouldn't be her main goal in life, I am sure she would NOT appreciate everyone treating Jean as the grieving mother, especially if she still exists. As for a place in this story I would have like Alex to have found her and let her know what happened to Cable.

They dont need to be best friends but it would be more fitting to have them as civil allies. Im over Maddie being angry and irrational especially since Jean doesnt come for. I think a better attitude for Maddie to have would be to be thankful to Jean bc despite her feelings she knew that Nathan was cared for and loved.

The only person that look at Jean as the grieving mother was Hope and thats bc Jean reached out to her in the issue.

The Madelyne Pryor running around 616 since X-Man resurrected her is basically the Goblin Queen without the demonic powers and suicidal impulses.
Don't you think that revelation makes sense even though it was revealed in an alternate future timeline?

Madelyne was the part of Jean that merged with the Phoenix Force and when Scott and Jean's love story was at its best, IMO. The fleeting time they had on the butte seems to be one of the highlights of their relationship. Most of the experiences and memories were locked away inside of Madelyne.

As for 616 Maddie, even she never truly got over Scott. Underneath all that hatred, she still ultimately wanted to have the family they should've during the 12 storyline when she pulled Nate and Scott into the astral plane. Even when she came back during Fraction's run, one of the first things she did was have psychic sex with Scott in the guise of Emma. I don't think Emma ever found out about that little nugget.

If Marvel gets intelligent and makes a NuHellfire book focused on Emma, should Maddy play a role and if so what kind

No, because Jean was still in love with Scott before "Inferno" when Madelyne's soul got merged back into hers.

My view of Madelyne is that she, like Phoenix-Jean before her, was a copy of Jean. Her love for Scott wasn't really hers; it was something effectively programmed into her. She loved Scott because Jean loved Scott. It wasn't a product of her own choices and experiences. Worse, it was a means to an end for Sinister.

Madelyne didn't start to become her own person until she and Scott separated and she was on her own. Which is why her re-villainization in the 90s is so frustrating to me. She had a second chance at existence, but, as soon as she got her memory back, she reverted to raging, bitter villainess mode, and she's been that way since.

To me, Madelyne's origin is a metaphor for dehumanization and abuse. Her father only cared about her for her uterus and male offspring. Similarly, the Phoenix treated her as a receptacle for the emotions and memories it no longer wanted. Madelyne was, in effect, a brainwashed sex slave. For her to work as a distinct character, that's a state she must overcome and move past. Her truly being in love with Scott reverts her to that state. It reduces her back to Sinister's bio-fembot fulfilling its purpose.

While i would like Maddie to exist and have a role, the sad truth is that Cyclops and Jean Grey (and all her copies) are important. Maddie has a really complicated relationship with the first two and i don't marvel throwing them for maddie .

I would really like for Maddie to have one last big story, though. An entire focused on her, but not as a villain, ex-wife or crazy clone. something that gives her a happy ending forever. those are rare in comics and it will be better than being on limbo as a villain. While i love Jean and i like Scott i believe both characters are in debt to maddie. for once it would be cool for them to admit being wrong and maddie getting her due.

The panel seems to indicate he probably did, but it's not explicit. Emma would have known something was up from Scott's reaction though so I'd say she knows.

I always hated how Marvel glossed over that especially given the irony of how Emma and Scott got together. They never did anything with this

    What was this?
I honestly skipped so much stuff from the period that Jean was dead.

That was leading up to Sisterhood. Maddie cosplayed as Emma and had psychic sex with Scott. To his credit he thought she was Emma

I wished that would've been played up on and Madelyne would've gotten him to realize that deep down, he knew it was her. I think I'd be able to tell some differences in how my 2 ex-wives and girlfriend get down. I guess we can blame it on telepathy though that made Madelyne fool ol' Scotty 100%.

Oh well, the time has passed and never needs to be brought up again. I agree with Havok that Maddie should move on.

    Uncanny X-Men #232 Aug 1988
    "Earthfall"
Not too long ago, while Storm and Wolverine were battling the Crimson Commando and Stonewall
and the other X-Men were battling the Juggernaut in Scotland, the tranquility of the Diablo Rio Mountains
were interrupted when something fell from the sky and crash landed near some campers.
Going to investigate, they find a Brood Starshark craft, and they are soon all slaughtered by the surviving Brood warriors inside,
except for one: paramedic Harry Palmer who is infected with a Brood queen embryo.

Today: Palmer is making his usual rounds on the site of a heart attack victim who's episode was triggered by the activation of his latent mutant powers:
the ability to breath fire. As Harry examines the man, and when he is left alone with him,
his Brood personality takes over and infects the man with a Brood embryo.

Meanwhile, in Australia, Madelyne Pryor is teleported back to the X-Men's secret outback headquarters by Gateway after a shopping trip.

She finds that there is nobody around to comment on her new outfit and haircut,
and is particularly disappointed to see that her brother-in-law Alex is not around either.

She goes down to the monitoring equipment after finding a note from the X-Men telling her they are on a mission
and begins sketching designs for a logo so that the X-Men can be remembered by their activities
and fulfill Roma's request that they become legends in the minds of the human race.
Her attention is turned to one of the monitors when it picks up a news feed from New York City,
where she is shocked to see her husband Cyclops and Marvel Girl being interviewed by reporter Trish Tilby.
Coming to the conclusion that Scott left her for Jean Grey -- who is alive and well after all

she angrily punches the screen causing it to explode, knocking her out.

Denver: Palmer is returning to his apartment after his shift is over feeling particularly drained after the days work,
and realizes that it only happens when he comes to the aid of mutants and wonders if that has anything to do with it.
When he goes into his apartment he finds Psylocke and Colossus waiting for him.
When the two try to warn him of the Brood embryo inside of him, Palmer surprises them with feats of super-human strength.
He manages to toss Colossus through the wall of his apartment and make an escape.
When he tries to make a break for his car, he is attacked by Havok, Longshot and Dazzler.
When he tosses his car door at them, he misses (thanks to Longshot's luck powers) and takes down a hydro pole.
While Rogue fixes the damage and eliminates the danger of the live wires, Palmer manages to escape on foot.

The X-Men regroup and with Storm creating a mist around the area, she sends Wolverine off to try and track Palmer down.
Palmer meanwhile manages to board a city bus in an attempt to escape when he is attacked by Rogue.
During the fight he easily over powers her and is about to infect her with a Brood embryo when
Wolverine smashes the passenger window of the bus and throws him out of the bus, causing the bus to crash.
While Rogue pulls herself out of the rubble, Wolverine chases Palmer to an alley that ends in a dead end.
When Rogue catches up with Logan, the two have the infected man cornered when the police arrives.
Detecting they too are infected by Brood, Wolverine kills the two officers.
Not realizing the truth, Rogue believes Logan has gone berserk and stop him, when the other X-Men arrive and Betsy confirms Logan's actions.
Just then, the X-Men soon find themselves surrounded by an army of partially transformed Brood all summoned by Palmer to kill the X-Men.

Story by Chris Claremont. Art by Marc Silvestri and Dan Green.
