I think when people look back at his dialogue they will wonder how the hell he was paid for this crap.

I liked the Bat-Burger franchise and the Jokerized fries. Would like to see more of Bat-Cow, though.

For the first time in quite a few years I am no longer reading any Batman books and the reason is Tom King's writing. What stood out was the atrocious dialogue between characters, thenreally poor plotting and bad plot ideas such as Bane breaking Batman's back and then Batman breaking Bane's. I came back for the War of Jokes and Riddles and was again annoyed with Kings plot. There is now way Batman would have let the Joker and the Riddler get away with the body count they did only to have Bruce Wayne invite them to dinner.
Tom King may have had some success with writing a couple of small books which would not have been a stretch for him given his employment history prior to writing comics. But he was given the keys to Batcave without actually proving himself.
I can credit Tom King in getting me to read other books than what DC is producing. I had not read Bendis' work prior to his taking over from Superman but you can easily tell who has superior comic book writing skills and its not Tom King.
I will have a look at some Batman books when Tom King departs, but I absolutely loathe his work and his 100 issues (if I was CEO I would fire him) cannot come fast enough.
Only Bat book I'm reading now is Super Sons. I miss the New 52 Batman and Batman and Robin books.
Tom King is the perfect example of someone who specialises is short stories trying (or being forced to by editorial) to do a LONG run. All the padding, needless fake outs etc.
I mean I am Suicide was atrociously bad.
I kinda meandered away from Tom King's run when the Rebirth issue's implicit promise of Batman training Duke as an ongoing subplot was never fulfilled. It got disillusioning pretty fast. Though I don't dislike Selena, I'm not really beholden by her and her focus, and I'm straight-up saddened that Kite-Man gets more page-time, focus, and agency than Duke.
Does anyone know when was the last time Duke even showed up in Batman?
