Of course, I just listed the first twelve members to be featured in the League, which just happens to include Elongated Man. If I went further, I'd have to include Red Tornado and Phantom Stranger who followed close on the heels of Ralph. And I conveniently didn't include Snapper Carr, even though he's one of my favourite JLAers--but I guess he doesn't count, his position being honorary, even though he was quite active at the League meetings and would go with them on cases. Plus he's featured in those letter column mastheads.
Which story? How J'Onn took his leave from the JLA and went in search of his people was told in "And So My World Ends . . . " JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA 71--by that time, the Martian Manhunter hadn't been seen anywhere for a year, so this story filled in what happened with him. Then in WORLD'S FINEST 212, " . . . And So My World Begins" told how he found the other green Martians and their new world, on Mars II. Several other stories over the years updated what was going on with J'Onn, until JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA 228 has J'Onn return to Earth to warn of an invasion force coming from Mars II.
It's ironic that Denny O'Neil ended up being the Martian Manhunter writer--in JLA 71, SUPERMAN 253, WFC 212, JLA 115 and ADVENTURE 449 - 451--given it was probably O'Neil's idea to get rid of him. The last time MM was with the League before issue 71 was in issue 61, when Gardner Fox was still the writer. Of course, J'Onn had lost his spot in HOUSE OF MYSTERY, so he didn't have an ongoing feature, besides his place in the JLA. But Green Arrow, Black Canary, Elongated Man, Aquaman, Atom, Hawkman, Red Tornado and Green Lantern all went through times when they didn't have an ongoing feature or title to call their own--yet they managed to stay relevant by being members of the Justice League.
