Default Does DC kill off more heroes than villains?

Just a thought. Going back to Crisis On Infinite Earths, I remember the hero deaths but not too many villains. Who are some big-name villains that DC has killed off?

Given that many superheroes have codes against killing, I would expect the numbers to skew in favor of the villains. (Although there's always villain-on-villain violence, where someone like Grodd kills ze Brain and Monsieur Mallah, or whatever.)

I'm not real up on current events, in the DC universe, but in Legion history, it sort of six of one, half dozen of the other. Invisible Lyle, Ferro Lad, Karate Kid, Mentalla, Magnetic Kid, Kid Psycho, Rond Vidar, Sun Boy, for heroes. The Time Trapper, the Emerald Empress, Nemesis Kid, Starfinger? for villains. It's a bit squiffy because so many characters die and then come back, in some way or another (Lightning Lad, Mon-El, several of Triplicate Girl's 'selves,' etc. have all 'died.')

I think DC should kill off more villains.

A number of no name/d list villains have bit the dust over the years, and some have become mantles like Robin.

But quite a few heroes have bit the dust. Some more than others.

    Jason Todd
    Donna Troy
    Superman
    Artemis
    Raven (if I remember right)
    Damian Wayne
Barry Allen (until the first Flash Rebirth or whatever)
    Kara Zor-El
    Half the Green Lanterns

That's just off the top of my head.

Well, probably because a hero's death is likely to have a bigger emotional impact for the readers - and that's really the point of most of these deaths.

Speaking of COIE, I think E2 Luthor was killed, as was the Matt Hagen Clayface.

DC tends to kill more heroes as they'll have a bigger spike in sales with 'The Death of Superman' than the 'Death of Crazy Quilt'!

I hate ANY characters being killed off (unless specifically designed to be). A good writer can make ANY character interesting.

The perfect example that comes to mind is Gail Simone and Catman.

Since each hero has about a dozen villains, it should be difficult to kill off more heroes than villains.

    You got me there.
Joker and Luthor are probably the only villians you could get away with that sort of story and get the bump in sales you were looking for.
