I appreciate the subtle detail of how Gambit has gotten scruffier with each issue, since he clearly has been too busy for grooming. I wish they'd been allowed to do the full beard.

great preview. i love Gambits bit in this. been a while since we seen Gambit do much of anything. so glad hes written by a writer who cares same as Rogue. X-Men Red Gambit is meh especially with so many cast members. almost no point in him on that team. its a moot point anyway since it seems it will end by 11

Kelly clarified a bit on a Tumblr ask recently:

Hi! Just wondering, is there any specific reason as to why Remy isn’t allowed to keep a beard?


Kelly:
Well, I think Darren (our editor) was right to reject the beard for arc 1, because it begins right after the wedding and they’re on the run for the entire arc and it doesn’t take place over a long period of time…but I think he rejected more just because he doesn’t like beards. I’ll try to lean on him some more though. ;D
