    There is no such thing as the best score ever, IMO. There are many fantastic scores in the history of movies.

    I would include John Williams, Ennio Morricone, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, for instance. Among my fave film scores is Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. That score makes me feel like I'm traveling in space aboard the Enterprise.

    I was not born when star wars first launched, but I remember hearing later on that it was precisely because of the bombastic orchestral score blasting away that was such a wild departure from the standard fare, it stood out more.

    It spawned copycat scores of a similar kind, and some of the pieces were quite good, like the last starfighter theme.
