Because they thought Wolverine confessing his undying love to Jean was more important than anything else?

Your gonna have to be a little more specific. I recall Jean being linked to the Phoenix at a young age and it came to her when she way dying In space. I dont recall it being just her mutant ability that some parasite space force wants to control. But its been a long time I could be mistaken.

The Space Force doesn't want to control Jean Grey's "Phoenix" mutant power at all. The Space Force itself IS an unlimited power. Jean Grey is the only one able to absorb it and became one with the Force. It's all explained in the movie, trust me.

I’m not saying that it shouldn’t of been better, just that Fox’s team of X-Men didn’t really allow much room for any engaging fight to happen. The power set was extremely limited and would’ve benefited from a more diverse choice to make it more visually engaging.

    On a side note:

Someone criticized the FX of the firebird at the end of "Apocalypse".
I think the "vague" firebird at the end of "Apocalypse" was superb in terms of CGI, and it looked like real fire.

What do you think about it?

It looked more like smoke than fire.

It was psionic energy. It didn't look like smoke at all. It was a psionic energy coming from her.

It looked like smoke...mist...whatever. It wasn't real "fiery".

And if that is psionic energy, then psionic energy in FoX-Men movies looks like red smoke.

Still, it was a wonderful effect, very impressive... and I loved it. It looked very powerful and menacing.

Of course, we will see more Phoenix effect in the upcoming movie.

Wolverine's whole arc in the movie is pretty much about that. Even Storm confronts him about that. It was clearly presented as that Logan was the most important figure on X-Men's side for Jean. Those 10 minutes were more than what anyone else got.

They interacted for 3 movies and a LARGE AMOUNT of off-screen months you're not gonna to see on-screen.

Exactly like Vision and Wanda in the MCU, they interacted for few minutes on-screen --- and Vision is depicted in a very minimum amount of screentime throughout the movieS LOL ---- but you're supposed to care anyway because it's MCU and it's a big trend and because things.

    Or Bruce and Scarlet.

    Or Tony and Pepper.

The first two X-films don’t take place in the span of months.

Yes. They are both set in 2004. And there are months inbetween them, according to producers, writers and novelizations, as well as evidence on-screen. TLS is set in 2005, one year later.
