Default What are the rules for posting fan made comics of Spiderman or X-men?

I'd like to write/draw a few issues of the X-Men or Spiderman, I would do this as a fun project. would I get in trouble if I post this somewhere online or on a website of my own? I would not charge. Are there sites where creators post their own fan comics and develop a following and not get sued?

As far as I'm concerned, you can post it online as long as you're not making money on it. It's form of fanart. Same goes for fanfiction. First example, right off the bat - Dragon Ball Multiverse. It's fan continuation to original manga. Right now it has 1497 pages and has been published online for years (few pages per week).

    I've seen some Marvel/DC fan-comics too.

what if you have a patreon (or similar platform).. which is not specifically for any one project but just for your efforts in general?
