I started an Eddie Brock appreciation thread, but realized there should be one for the symbiote in general, especially with Symbiote Spider-man in stores.

It's a bit inspired that once upon a time, Marvel had a tough time getting writers for satellite books willing to write the Alien Costume Spider-Man, although they wouldn't realize it would mean their work is in print decades later.

I've always liked the costume. I became familiar with it thank to Spider-Man 3 and the tv animated series. As a child, I was super into it because of how dark and gritty it was, same with Venom. As I grew up, I lost interest in Venom but not in the costume, which still is one of my favorites. I think this design gains a lot because, even when it wasn't actually the symbiote but just a black costume, it has participated in such great stories such as ASM #300, The death of Jean DeWolff, Kraven's Last Hunt, Back in Black, To have and to Hold, Renew your Vows among others. I love that the design is so simple yet so powerful

It's a fair point. Visually, there isn't much of a distinction so this should be a black costume appreciation as well.
