Raptors beat, the "best team ever".
Guess they really needed Durant.
Congrats to Kahwi and Company.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
All this year has proved is how difficult a threepeat really is regardless of how talented a team is, and further put in perspective just how good and well put together the 90s Bulls were
Just speculating here but I wonder if the Warriors might make a push for Kawhi Leonard? The Warriors have a lot of bad options with the devastating injuries to Durant and Thompson. But assuming Durant doesn't opt in they could let him go and try to sign Kawhi to a max contract instead and resign Thompson. A Steph and Kawhi led team would make the playoffs next year and Thompson could be back by that point at which point you roll either Kawhi or Klay over to small forward.
Obviously Toronto is going to do everything possible to keep Kawhi but if he really does want to go to Los Angeles you have to wonder if he'd settle for San Francisco instead.
Different eras.
The Bulls had teams that pretty much STAYED together. No one of importance jumped ship during those runs.
Also they were all healthy for the most part.
Phil was not Dwayne Casey or Mark Jackson out of a job when they were NOT winning titles. He was there for all of it.
You had consistency.
Did anyone thanks Casey for busting his behind to build that team? What about Demar? You don't get that title without all of the crap they did before they got ran out of town. At least Casey has a ring already.
The main folks who are mad right now are in New York. Are you really going to go after a guy that is hurt and most of the season will be lost to him?
What does either NY team have to lose? Worst case scenario is that they sign Durant and he comes back a shadow of his former self so they continue to suck. If they don't sign him they suck anyway. So sign him knowing you won't have him for a year and hope for the best.
My son and I were talking about this and the cries of recrimination and woe that would echo through the league if Kawhi came to the Dubs. Can you imagine?
This was a great series and I was proud of the Warriors for all the fight they put up. They were just outmatched on D especially, but hey also in shooting accuracy. Can't win 'em all. So congrats to Canada and the Raptors.
Every day is a gift, not a given right.

Which is the point I'm trying to make, playing the 300+ games a threepeat requires without anyone suffering a major injury to a key player, leaving for greener pastures(or the replacement and integration of the ones that do leave) is a monumentally difficult task, doing it twice with the same core may actually be impossible to replicate in the current NBA
And with that, let the coronation begin!
The Toronto Raptors are your 2018-2019 National Basketball Association champions!
All hail The Kings In The North!
