Marvel is better without a Superman analog.
All these attempts to push Carol seem like putting the cart before the horse. The repeated attempts to push yet as the new 'X' or Marvel's 'Y' instead of focusing on making her interesting.
Focus on getting a decent selling book first, then build from there.
Can't argue with that. My favorite Carol stories were the Brian Reed stuff up through Civil War.

I want so much to Deadpool to meet with Carol, I mean Car-Ell, now. LOL.
I mean, they couald have changed the name to somethng a little more subtle. She could had been Cah-Rell perfectly.
But Car-Ell. And with a double L!! You never hear about the L conspiracy??
"Never assign to malice what is adequately explained by stupidity or ignorance."
"Great stories will always return to their original forms"
"Nobody is more dangerous than he who imagines himself pure in heart; for his purity, by definition, is unassailable." James Baldwin
No need to be rude. I got caught off-guard lack of explanation.
Supergirl's names were already established before Carol Danvers existed and her name is the show is just a nod to the comic book continuity which older fans of the character would automatically detect and not DC trying to cash in on the Captain Marvel spotlight, especially since Captain Marvel is already the less popular of the two heroines.
For some reason Marvel seems to think that putting Carol everywhere is going to put her over. Probably because a lot of their more popular characters tend to show up everywhere.
Thing is that's not how the relationship between popularity and appearances works. You have Spider-Man appear in say, an Avengers book, not to push Spidey, but in the hopes that Peter will boost the sales of the books he appears in.
If anything, too many appearances is detrimental to characters. Why is Wolverine on every X-Team. Why is he a Mentor here, a ninja assassin there, and a feral Berserker in this third place?
Basically they have the relationship backwards.
This will never last once the movie comes out they’ll change her origin again just you wait
Hawkman: Sigh, I have the most confusing origin in comics.
Captain Marvel: Hold muh' better.
Hawkman: Aren't you supposed be an alcoholic?
Captain Marvel: Who the heck knows anymore?. Let's do this.
"The Marvel EIC Chair has a certain curse that goes along with it: it tends to drive people insane, and ultimately, out of the business altogether. It is the notorious last stop for many staffers, as once you've sat in The Big Chair, your pariah status is usually locked in." Christopher Priest
Maybe not those names, but certainly who Supergirl was, maybe by association but that's just clever marketing
A film and 4 seasons vs 1 film, sure the films won't be equally received but that's still ahead of that game
I think outside of comics up till this film carol was hardly known at all, Supergirl much more so by association and by tv, but there it is
And based on numbers I think she edges the comics too
I suppose I mean out of comics people likely knew Supergirl as superman cousin, but as for carol, till the mcu I think they knew nothing practically
