Controversial take: Subzero, Return of the Joker and Under the Red Hood are all superior to Mask of the Phantasm

I don't know if I'd compare Under the Red Hood since it's so different than those other movies and the Timmverse in so many ways (so comparing apples and oranges -- in the same way that people generally don't compare Batman 66 to the Burton or Nolan films; not to say the Timmverse is akin to the '66 show and movie, of course), but I strongly agree that it's a great movie -- I just have never thought to judge it against Mask of the Phantasm myself.

Subzero and Return of the Joker are quality films, for the record. It's a shame how badly WB botched the marketing for Mask of the Phantasm, or else those movies might've gotten theatrical releases themselves.

NICE! That's a really obscure one. Wonderful film.

But...you overlooked one very important film. Same production team as Watership Down. This is a contender for my favorite animated film. It's quite depressing, though (more so than the book).

I love nearly everything Bakshi's done.

    Fritz the Cat
    Heavy Traffic
    Coonskin
    Wizards
    Lord of the Rings
    Fire and Ice
    (fave)
    American Pop
    Cool World

Another favorite. I've gotten much mileage out of this baby over the years. As a reader of Heavy Metal at the time, this was too good to be true!

I watched Watership Down and Fantastic Planet many times when young. Love 'em to bits. Only seen the others once. Lots of Yamato and Macross, though.

I'm in the latter half of the current season of Bojack Horseman. No one's going to give it any awards in the animation department, nor does it aim for it. But it more than makes up for that intentional art style with some truly fantastic writing.

The point of the show is great writing.
