I was also part of the original viewing audience in '73 but as a four-year old. I've posted this before but I was scared of the Super Friends version of Batman--the only one I'd ever seen at that age--and that led to my obsession with Super Friends which led me to re-runs of Batman '66. Once that happened I was hooked and started collecting comics around age 5 or 6. Batman '66 continues to have a huge impact on me. I don't watch the old episodes anymore just like I don't put on a Bob Dylan record on purpose anymore. I've watched so many times (and listened to every Dylan album so many times) I can just sort of pull it up in my head.

    Love this thread! Thanks, OP!

See, I would have been scared of that version of Batman if I had seen who was actually doing his voice:

Great page for most of the Challenge Era Super Friends voice actors - https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com...iends-S3/cast/
    83-84 season - https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com...nds-S4-2/cast/
Also clinking on them brings up samples of their voices. *

Had no idea Chetah was Latina, but now I totally hear it in her voice.
Eg- Click above her name Marlene Aragon for the voice sample - https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com...ds-S3/Cheetah/
Most of these, are still permanently ingrained as the voices I hear spoken when reading the comics.

*(don't blame me if you spend the next few hrs looking up the voices behind all your favorite cartoons)

    I second this ^^^^^

This thread is AMAZING - so many great memories. And I've learned so much that I didn't know about Super Friends.

I would say yes, absolutely as part of the HB created team.

    Although always be careful what you wish for, while those in this thread can obviously celebrates the fun more whimsical aspect of these heroes;

There is a streak of creators at DC (seems to have started late 80's-90's dark age/shock & awe era to today) who absolutely hate every aspect of this side of DC, and need to constantly reinforce to everyone (read as convince themselves) that they are more "mature" and "sophisticated" than this^.
They do this by often "re-imagining" the most whimsical or innocent characters, and telling themselves this is how you write for a mature audience.

See similar fate to much of the Global Guardians throughout DC history, who also debuted in Super Friends.

By bringing back any of these characters, they become prone to this kind of "mature" and "sophisticated" modern re-invention. LOL!

I was introduced this the show in 1976. Absolutely loved it! One of the fondest memories of my youth is this show. That it's ridiculed by so many tells me comics & many of their fans are way too serious.

I always have a soft spot for the first season & two of my favorite episodes come from it. One is "Androids" which really got me hooked on Superman & the other is "Too Hot to Handle" which introduced me to the Flash. There's a scene where Flash races around the world and that's just burned into my brain.

I remember when Saturday cartoons were such a big deal there was a preview show that ran in prime time. That's where I got a peek at the Legion of Doom. I can't describe the excitement and anticipation I had for the show after that! Just a golden time for me.

Yes! The first one I remember watching was hosted by the Brady Bunch (their animated program aired that Fall in 1972 - Wonder Woman made her first TV/animated appearance that season). As for SF, I first saw it on the preview show the following year on ABC.
