What is The Age of Marvels and how does it work?

The Age of Marvels (hereinafter referred to as AOM) is a fan fiction universe that started many moons ago by distinguished former CBR mod Mattbib. To my recollection, I believe this will be the 4th incarnation of the project, having gone through two forum reboots, and most recently a universal reset (in AOM continuity anyways). The way it works is that a group of CBR members volunteer to steer established Marvel characters in series they develop themselves, putting together teams, villains, relationships, artist/writer pairings, concepts and most importantly creative storylines and playing them out each month through entertaining solicits. These fanmade series share a universe and continuity, the newest version of this shared continuity is called AOM: The New Universe. AOM gives Marvel fans the chance to shape Marvel Comics their own way.

The team of plotters (and sometimes editors) that make up the AOM: New Universe is referred to as "The Bullpen." This Bullpen page is an avenue for plotters, editors and readers to discuss the behind-the-scenes aspects of AOM, to pitch ideas, promo what is to come, show off fan made artwork, etc. It's the proverbial conference room, water cooler, and after hour bar - all in one.

Solicits are posted once a month. Plotters write up their solicits in the proper format and send them to their editor or the EIC directly (usually due at the end of a month). The EIC will post all the solicits in a monthly post. In that post, readers (including the plotters and editors themselves) will be able to choose which books they'd purchase and usually vote in a poll for popular brand, title, etc. *You may and are encouraged to vote for your own titles* There is some friendly competition between the titles as we have given out awards/rewards in the past for top selling titles, fan favorite winners, etc. such as awarding new character slots, new title options for the winning plotter/editor, the opportunity to do a crossover or even lead an AOM wide"event." Rewards for The New Universe have not yet been established, please refer to the "AOM Rewards" post further down this first page for updates on Rewards when they become available.

This is a shared community. The Bullpen Team works together to strengthen each other's stories and together we contribute in building a brand New Universe. Collaboration is encouraged. Plotters have "ownership" of the characters in their own books. If a plotter wishes to use a character "owned" by another plotter/title, they are asked to run the idea by the plotter that "owns" that character for approval. This helps keep continuity tight and also often leads to plotters working together and making something greater than they may have even originally planned.

There is a running and updated listed of characters that have been "saved" in to this New Universe (See Active Character List in a post on this first page)
If a character or concept has not been "saved" then they are not to be used without EIC approval. There may be exceptions, and certain situations will be open for discussion here on the Bullpen Page, so we will cross those bridges when we come to them.
Example: If Galactus is not an active AOM character, then it would be impossible to be a Herald of Galactus since as of now, the big fella does not exist in this New Universe.
Note: The addition and inclusion of more "saved" characters will be coming. This is only the beginning, our first proverbial toybox. The New Universe will likely grow as we move forward. Stay tuned.

We are starting with a 2 title cap/limit for each plotter. AOM expansion will likely occur as the universe develops. So if you are interested in adding more books, stay tuned.

Hey and thanks for inquiring about AoM New Universe. If you want to join just pitch an idea in this thread. choose a character or characters that you're interested in along with a creative team. The rules and guidelines for AoM are on the first page of this thread so look it over then make your pitch.

Global Honored is our EiC and will look over your proposal. Just check back in this thread in a day and go from there.

This is a mostly accurate list of characters that have been taken already. If they are not on the list then they’d be available. Note: CRaymond bowed out so any characters attached to CRaymond will also be available to use.

We can definitely use some more cosmic energy in this new AOM
