Default I've just finished reading New Super-Man Vol. 1: Made In China:

And it was really good, even great. Kenan is such a likable protagonist, with his cocky attitude balanced by his better nature which manifests itself as his desire to save people. Kenan also has a desire to not watch kids lose their mother and grow up with only a father as a parent the way he did. the writing is simply ten/ten.

But now, unfortunately. the book is about to apparently be cancelled for real, with no way to bring it back for a second time. which sucks.

And most importantly, why wasn't Gene Luen Yang writing pre-Truth New 52 Superman? he clearly has a more than strong handle on who that version of the character was meant to be, as reimagined by Grant Morrison and written by Greg Pak while building upon what Morrison set up?

DC: Batman: Damned, The Green Lantern. Young Justice. Wonder Twins

    Boom!: Ronin Samurai.

Editorial for New 52 Superman was terrible all around. I totally blame editorial for Yang’s New 52 run being a flop, dude is a fantastic writer and I wish he still was on an ongoing. Kenan is a wonderful addition to the Superfamily, and I pray he doesn’t get massacred in the background of some event now that he doesn’t have an ongoing. I wish Yang would write a Superfamily title with Kenan in it.

Wasn't it cancelled months ago ? New Super-Man was one of the best series out there, it managed to preserve the spirit of the New 52 in his corner of the DCU, like RHaTO does for the Batman-books, and Aquaman does for, well, Aquaman.

He was featured in the back-up material for Doomsday Clock, hopefully he survives past that and we get more information.

Yes, it was sadly cancelled months ago. Last issue came out on June 13.

Apologies, I just started reading this book. which is why I'm so befuddled as to how I'm managed to sleep on New Super-Man for so long.

Should be following in your footsteps. That whole run was excellent and it deserves a re-read. There's a great amount of progress made and changes to the status quo, and Yang handles it as deftly as anyone. I have to say it even handled Reborn Superman mythos better than the main titles. And of course Kenan is a great protagonist.
