Halloween Dance of the Children

Ghosts and Ghouls all unite
as the coming of Halloween
in garb most garish or cute or strange
dance among the street lights
seeking sweets or toys or change
the children of the night.

Trick them not for watchful eyes will see
nearby giants glare or hands held tight
in groups they do march for safety
for fun rules the darkness without fright
they parade through the town
the children of the night.

Let them dance, sing and play
For soon the night will turn to day
Ghosts and Ghouls, now scared away
til next they see the sight
in colorful dress and painted faces
the children of the night.

Promise of Flight

In partial seams a pattern set
The words they come too fast
They twist and wring and flail
And pray to no one avails
It has been thrown and cast
Risen least not all forget

Sounds like waves on cliffs
Roil and churn to foaming break
Touches not the silent blue
Enshrouds the innumerable
Drawing into its self the weak
Blocking out the quiet gift

Forms bowed with blinded sight
See not the darkened cliff
Where once as one unbroken
Gestalt mind and heart awoken
The silent blue, the quiet gift
Reaches out with promise of flight

To Each a Story

To each a story belongs
of conflict and conquest
of triumph, tears and tests
To each a story is told
of souls that wander around
and dreams that are found
To each a story is shared
of pain and of sorrow
and of thoughts of tomorrow

To each a story is born....

Fear Comes Knocking

Fear comes knocking at my door
gaunt and grey
like bone and clay
I yell to it to go away, from my door
still it knocks and moans
still it stays at my home
again I yell don't come in my door
but there it stands
with withered hands
why oh why I demand are you at my door
with empty eyes
it stares inside
Fear comes knocking at my door
and I open it and see
that Fear is only as strong
as I let it be
