Default Cover Contest, Week Oct. 31 - Nov. 6: O Mother, Where Art Thou?

Welcome to the new cover contest. As my mother's 70th birthday is coming up in November, I thought it a good idea to make this week's theme all about Mothers in Comics.

Here are the rules, which I shamelessly copied and pasted from the previous week's contest:

    • Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
    • Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
    • Covers must be posted before voting begins.
    • Voting begins 12 AM Tuesday and runs until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
    • Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most.
    • The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
    • It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules, you don't need to argue it in the thread, simply don't vote for it.
    • Most importantly please remember that we're here to have fun. Enjoy!

Here's one featuring the most famous mother from the comics:

She's your mother, you love her
There won't be another place like her again that you call home
She stands here to help you, there's nothing she won't do
As long as she's alive, you're not alone, you've got each other
    That's your mother

I was going over Marvel comics, Silver and Bronze Ages, and almost nobody has a Mother. Spider-Man, Captain America, Daredevil, the FF, the Hulk, Thor..... Some of them showed up later, like DD, but for the most part, no Mothers. Kind a weird.

    But Superboy has a Mom.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Well, ok. I was hesitant to use this because it makes me sad, but I really loved this story overall

Even when they hurt each other, there is still love between a mother and her child.
