Probably because DC has established that he can.
Theres this worry that DC is toning down what she can do recently, but this is not a new problem.

Back during post crisis there was that utter piece of crap 'Superman Batman Wonder Woman: Trinity' where Diana served as a damnsel for Superman and Batman to take turns saving which aside from other classy moments like Ras Al Guul effortlessly defeating her and killing hundreds of Amazons and declaring he would make them all his sex slaves, we also got Bizarro snapping the lasso in half followed by him mopping the floor with Wonder Woman, leading to Batman beating up Bizarro effortlessly

Well we see her flying in issue #1, so there's that.

But also, the comment by Diana could be mere figurative language. Like me saying to someone that they will break an axe before they break the block of granite they are hitting with it.

Nevertheless, that whole scene reeks of P.I.S.
If ten years of recording The Young and the Restless for my mother have taught me anything, it's that characters in serial dramas are always happily in love...until they're not

But that story with bizarro isn't cannon.

I still don't see the point in nerfing WW. Also she has been seen flying in different comics lately.

I'm not sure whether Wagner's Trinity is canonical, I mean on the one hand, it takes place on Earth Prime, I think it was supposed to be a prequel to Justice League but on the other hand, it was quite a big departure from canon, at least where Wonder Woman's concerned. Either way, I just set it down as an instance of PIS and pretend it never happened
