Never
Before Year 2225
wait, why we're even still talking about this? because some how Marvel Studios needs to 'get with the times' and make a rated-R movie even though they're basically bathing in money?
.... is it because 14 to 17 year-old boys consider R-rated movies to be the most delightful forbidden fruit? I remember that nearly every boy I knew in junior high wanted to see "Aliens" and "Predator" but had to wait for them to come out on TV (or sneak into a theater and watch them on the sly).
I suppose, setting aside certain minor cultural and technological changes, that pre-teen boys aren't much different now than they were 30 or 40 years ago. by watching rated-R movies they can vicariously participate in the joys of adulthood... or something?
when is this troll going to stop making troll threads under different handles? after successive bans he or she still returns for more of the same.
A couple of things about recent posts.
A monopoly is not illegal and would not, in and of itself, have caused the buyout to not go through. It could, in the future, cause the company to be forced to divest parts of itself of the monopoly is being used for illegal purposes.
Ragnarok had a dark subject at its heart. So did Ghostbusters. The way the two movies dealt with the dark subject was about the same, and neither could generally be called a dark movie.
A R-rated comic film isn't going to hurt anyone. If it's good it's good. PG-13, Hard R, or otherwise.
Most superhero properties don't need it. Although I feel like Deadpool benefits a lot from an R rating.
I hope it will be Moon Knight. One of the Infinity War writers wants to do Moon Knight. That would make my day. Every day.
Marvel/Disney releasing an R-rated film will only happen in the reign of Queen Dick.

I disagree.
I think the R limits him to gore-porn and vulgar jokes.
Joe Kelly's and the 90's Waid stuff was more clever than either Deadpool films. And more PG-13 than anything.
But that is probably why I prefer Ambush Bug over Deadpool. It's hard to be clever with gore-porn and the 7 millionth dick joke.

I honestly thought a lot of the last film was disgusting they could have had a good film without all that. Domino was the high point for me.
What I meant was I think the first one probably needed that edge it might not have been as successful without it. I feel like a lot of the jokes might've fell flat without that extra graphic violence/vulgarity.
so far that's what Netflix is for. But we'll see.
Deadpool 3 will probably not be MCU, but it will still be rated R, so there you go.

We knew Disney will likely give it the R label so fans don't start screaming early that we told you so, but the end result will likely play out more like Birds of Prey, movies that are R in name only.
