Does Jean Grey need a superhero code name and if so what would you call her?

It's associated with her across media platforms. It sounds cool. It works on a meta level given her history. It just fits with Cyclops, too. Cyclops and Phoenix. The cadence is just right such that it rolls off the tongue.

Honestly, her name should be Phoenix with or without the cosmic chicken.

That's how I feel. Jean has earned the name Phoenix. Even Jeen herself. After the Phoenix incinerated Jeen, Jeen mastered the Phoenix from within the White Hot Room and made it bring her back. Then when she was touched by a Poison who took over her body and absorbed her (killing her), Jean's mind survived and she recreated her BODY.

Adult Jean died on the space shuttle, became Phoenix, killed herself, came back, got killed by a Sentinel and came back from that, died on the space shuttle when Logan mercy killed her, then died as Xorn, they came back and Endsong but let herself go back to the after life, then came back in Phoenix: Resurrection. In Phoenix: Resurrection she vanquished the Phoenix. Seeing that both Jean and Jeen have shown they can completely control the Phoenix (and bring themselves back from the dead with or without help from the Phoenix), Jean is rightfully codenamed Phoenix.

With Disney buying Fox, we'll eventually see the X-Men Interact more with Marvel Universe. I have the feeling she'll be called Phoenix when Shi'ar come across her, or when people like the heralds of Galactus or Galactus himself come across her.

I don't think Jean needs a codename, but I like the idea of her taking over for Professor X and being referred to as Professor Grey (she'd need to find some time to get a PhD first).

No, not the entendres, the connotations. Headmistresses are typically older, stuffy, doting, leading mundane if not uninspiring lives before ultimately succumbing to dotage. None of that fits Jean. And besides, wasn't Emma the headmistress of her original academy?
