Default What KickStarter comic book project are you backing?

I'm curious as to what comic book KickStarter projects that other CBR members are backing?

The most recent one that I decided to back is THE PROJECTIONIST: a Necropunk Thriller.

I'm still fairly new to using KickStarter, and I have never launched a KickStarter project, before. Or, if KickStarter isn't your thing, what sort of similar site do you use, and what's a recent project that you have backed there?

I think that the main things about this one that I decided to back that persuaded me to back it were a combination of three things.

    1. The artist.
    2. The colorist.
    3. The bit about, "NECROPUNK is the aesthetic. It is a world saturated in death. A society drunk on formaldehyde."

It was actually the art and the coloring that I looked at off the KickStarter page, on the artist's and the colorists' respective web pages that persuaded me more than the art on display on the KickStarter project page, itself, about what the project might be capable of, visually, if it came to fruition.

I would like to hear about projects that you found to be interesting, but also, I would like to know the why behind your decision to support your projects of choice.

There wasn't a KickStarter forum section, so I really wasn't sure which area to post this in. If need be, mods should feel free to move it. Thanks in advance!

Today, I decided to back a KickStarter project titled: HP Lovecraft Versus Aleister Crowley

I'm not a huge Lovecraft fan (GASP!!), but be that as it may, this project creator at least seems engaged with his own project. Many aren't, from what I've seen while browsing KickStarter projects.

I do think that they need to rearrange the art on the project page, and bring some of the more dynamic artistic visuals closer to the top of the page, to grab page visitors' attention quicker.

    I recently backed:
Atomic Robo Reprint regalia, but it's super successful so I I am going to post the link to:

I support this one (which not only met its 10K goal, but also a 2K stretch goal to include an extra 4 page story.

"Fangirl" by Tom Stillwell (who used to post here on YABS, and also is the Creator of "the Underneath" and "Honor Brigade / Toyboy") and artist Jessica Lynn.

    Short Description
When Alice witnesses a murder, she and her guildies do the only thing they can think of - hide in plain sight at the world's largest comic convention.

    Long Description
Alice just wants to hit up the big San Diego comic book convention, meet her Magefire guildies in real life, and maybe, just maybe, score a con exclusive Assault on Saturn action figure.

Her plans go awry when Alice witnesses a murder. On the run from a corrupt cop, Alice and her friends take to the con in hopes of blending in with the throngs of cosplayers, gamers, Whovians, Brownscoats...the cornucopia of Fandom. And maybe still get that sweet sweet action figure.

Written by Tom Stillwell and illustrated my Jessica Lynn.

The only kickstarter project I've backed so far is Ben Templesmith's adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's Dagon. I'm not too familiar with Lovecraft but Templesmith is super talented and it looks right up his alley. Not due till September but I'm quite excited.

I really wanted to back that one myself but shipping to England was rather costly.

Can anyone give me references to previous successful kickstarter comic book projects?
Because I have supported 3 games before, none of which are completed.
I don't want same thing happening with this.
Kudos to Maureen O'Connell of Scholastic for getting us the Harry Potter series.

I've not spent much time on kickstarter but these are two books I have checked out that were finished. Quite upset I missed 'em too.

I guess the best thing to do would be to check out the status of the creators past projects, if you wanted to back them?

I'll be supporting this one when it launches:

OUR SEX STORIES ARE GETTING EVEN MORE GRAPHIC

    07-11-2015

You may have already heard the news. We’ve been teasing it at the live show and on our social media for months: The Mystery Box Show is going to be a COMIC BOOK!

And we need your help to make it a reality.

On August 1st, we are launching a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund the first issue of our comic. It’s a natural fit: the medium of comics allows us to explore a storyteller’s emotions and experiences from a new perspective and reach a wider audience with the stories that have touched so many of you at our live shows.

    THE BIG IDEA

You’re probably wondering what this comic book will be like. Who is involved? What’s the big idea? Here are some details to get you whistle whetted:

This comic book will be an adaptation of the stories told live at the Mystery Box Show in Portland, OR.

Each issue will feature two stories, each written and drawn by a different team of creators. We’ll explore many different graphic styles, each lending their own unique sensibility to the story they tell.

Our first issue will feature work from writer Douglas Wolk (Judge Dredd: Mega City 2) and artist Mark Dos Santos (Imperial)!

The goal of the Kickstarter is not only to produce our first comic, but to be well on our way of producing these books as a series! That means more stories and more sex-positive work being released to the world.

We’ll be updating you with more information as we get closer and closer to our launch date, folks. Log back into this page, or stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter feeds, or sign up for our newsletter for all of the pertinent information.

We’re looking forward to seeing this dream become a long-awaited reality! We’ve seen some pages already, and it’s going to look spectacular!
