For whatever reason, that collection features Man of Steel #6 instead. It is not hard to find though and it really is a gem. It’s the perfect remaster of the original and one of the last times we got Wayne Boring. Shouldn’t be too hard to find through a private seller.
I have really been digging into Kal L lately actually. After the first three years or so the golden age really hit its stride. And on top of that rewatching some of George Reeves has been better than my other tv experiences with Superman. I need to binge watch the show.
Glad you guys like this thread, I'm enjoying it a lot too. It's very nice to remember the good Superman moments and stuff we've had in this 80 years..
I also really enjoy The Fleischer cartoons. It's just pure Superman action and so very well done.
The Superman TAS intro theme always gives me goosebumps. It's so uplifting.
The plane rescue from Superman Returns, First Flight from Man of Steel are so epic and amazing too.
Superman The Movie, when Superman tells Lois after he saves her, "A friend." Also, the rooftop interview and 'can you read my mind' scenes are fantastic for me. Big grin on my face haha.
When Superman talks to his son and the final flight in Superman Returns really warms my heart. I love the music when he is flying in the sky, it's so beautiful. Superman really has wonderful and epic scores honestly.
Also love it when the Justice League defeat Steppenwolf and that final shot of all 6 together and Superman being happy that he's alive to see it. Of course Superman kicking the League's asses is great! And the Superman/The Flash race is perfection to me. I really enjoy JL despite the flaws.
Bryan Singer is a creep and this movie is a total bore, but this scene is awesome.
If you edited the &*%# out of Superman Returns into a 40 minute episode of Superman being awesome, it's great. But it falls apart completely whenever it tries to tell a story.
This is basically Smallville if it had a budget, but it works.
I would also love a edited-down version of Smallville that tosses out all the horrible teen soap opera nonsense, but highlights all the great stuff that worked like the Clark/Lex/Lionel stuff.
That said, Smallville did know when to revel in its teen soapy-ness sometimes

When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?
SUPERMAN is the greatest fictional character ever created.
That is very specific.
What was it about those seasons that you omitted?
I can't remember exactly when I tapped out of Smallville. It was before the Brianiac or Supergirl stuff. I came back when the new showrunners turned the show into a revamped Lois & Clark with the Miss Tessmacher / Mercy Graves / Lena Luthor hybrid and the Lor-Zod / Doomsday remix. Then I stuck it out to the bitter end, no matter how goofy it was
