At 4:38 I LOVED the episode 'The Witch and the Warrior' written by Paul Dini
Here is a perfect clip from, "He-Man & Masters Of The Universe", episode 11 "Masks of Power",
which has a perfect lesson that Kevin Smith should listen to
At 2:44 I never-ever wondered why the Prince Adam character has a secret identity
I am GLAD the character has though.
At 2:55 How would the Teela character react when she finds out
everybody in her life had been lying to her for years...
I take issue with this because it is 100% NONSENSE!
In all 130 episodes of He-Man and the MOTU, the following NEVER happened;
Teela: Adam? Are you He-Man?
Adam: Nope!
Adam LIED when Teela asked him this question
in every single episode of the 130 episodes.
Teela: Sorceress? Is prince Adam He-Man?
Sorceress: Nope!
Sorceress LIED when Teela asked her this question
in every single episode of the 130 episodes.
Teela: Queen Marlena? Is your son He-Man?
Queen Marlena: Nope!
Queen Marlena LIED when Teela asked her this question
in every single episode of the 130 episodes.
Teela: Man-At-Arms? Is Adam He-Man?
Man-At-Arms: Nope!
Man-At-Arms LIED when Teela asked him this question
in every single episode of the 130 episodes.
Teela: Orko? Is Adam He-Man?
Orko: Nope!
Orko LIED when Teela asked him this question
in every single episode of the 130 episodes.
Teela: Cringer? Is Adam He-Man?
Cringer: Nope!
Cringer LIED when Teela asked him this question
in every single episode of the 130 episodes.
I guess he should have offered up his secret to her, question unasked?
What I find interesting though is that its not exactly Adam's choice. He confided in the Sorceress that it weighs heavy on him that his father doesn't respect him but He-Man, and that he wants to give up that disguise. She reiterates its important that no one ever know, and explicitly says Skeletor will go after those he thinks He-Man loves.
"Adam No More" time stamp
For a company that re-uses cells as often as they could to save money, they created brand new cells just to show Adam's sorrow at that burden for ONE scene.
It also implies, He-Man is a cipher to Skeletor. He knows nothing about him except that he randomly pops up to save the day, then disappears so he can't be tracked. Relying on a deus ex machina (He-Man's friends) is one thing, knowing they're intimately connected to him (Randor = father, Duncan = father figure, Teela = love interest) is another and Skeletor would hurt them if for no other reason than to hurt He-Man, even if he knew or felt he'd feel He-Man's wrath for once in return. Its called "spite" and its Skeletor's favorite emotion.
