Don't go to the X Men boards. They don't like ANYTHING over there besides Claremont and the 93 cartoon.

    Kidding (sort of).

I'm complaining about complainers, I hate myself!!!!

Granted that was one epic cartoon series.

The X-Men boards are the Alan Moore of CBR!

Agreed! That theme music though... I still imagine it plays in the background when I'm about to spend adult time with my wife.

    HAH! Perfect.

I was just talking on another thread about when he got mad creators were using the Watchmen. "They should create their own things". Alan... who is most known for Watchmen, stand-ins for Charleston characters. Swamp Thing, Superman... The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen!!! Remember when Alan Moore created the Invisible Man and Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde??

The man who "created" an all star lineup of borrowed characters was upset about creators using characters they didn't invent... You can't make this stuff up.

man's got talent, but he's lost the plot as far as his rants about other creators go.

still love is stan lee essay though.

Yeah he's reached "beloved crazy uncle" status at this point. He's done more than enough to get tons of leeway from me, I don't really get upset (I don't get upset by things anyone I don't know says, as a general rule, but still) at what he says, I just hope it's an entertaining wreck at this point. He usually delivers on that. Uncle Alan is harmless, just let him tire himself out and he'll settle down eventually.

Haven't read his essay but I will. I'm sure it's a great read.

BND. Not only because it was born from the worst Spider-Man story of all time, but because it was painfully boring.

Eh, I go to the X boards sometimes and I've never read Claremont's stuff and could care less about the '93 cartoon. I have seen people like you describe there, though.
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."

The man sure can write. Hard to disagree with what he is saying there, but at the same time its hard to see the best way forward. We've had plenty of radical creativity, but none of it has matched the sheer impact Lee had.

    definitely hard to bottle lightning

i do like that he argues for trying to at least capture or reach for the same spirit stan had in his story telling, even if you fail, it's an admiable goal.

and essentially, he's against the "illusion of change", which i know a few posters here would agree with.

They like Rogue and Gambit, that makes them A-OK in my book.

...I'm also sort of in their corner about everything else. The X-Line is just a mess at the moment. I was enjoying Gold and Blue too until Kitty-Gate and Extermination, and they somehow managed to make Jean's revival completely boring and pointless.

You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back
