"right now" nope definitely not... I figure in about 5 years, or longer for the marriage. Assuming the new ongoing starts building on the relationship pretty early on. And the follow-up writers actually continue to pursue it ratherthan doing a do-over whenever they take over it... So yeah, going to be rather difficult to pull...

Maybe not traditional a sidekick, but projects. Like he comes in to big brother various wayward teen vigilantes.

Eh, that's nothing new. We've seen Dick supervise and/or run the Titans for decades. I'm ready for something new. In fact, I think if Dick is going to increase his profile, he needs something new.

He can still be a Titan and run the group if DC has to have it (I think its a stagnant dead-end right now, personally) but a sidekick/wife/child would open up new options for him.

However, you're right (in your post at the top of the page) that any of it would be difficult to pull off. As long as DC views Nightwing as an attache of the Bat, he's not going to get to develop as a solo IP. Most of the stuff we pitch and talk about here is dependent on DC deciding to develop Nightwing into more of a individual property (he'll always have ties to the Bat of course) and DC doesn't agree with the notion that Dick could be bigger than he is.

While supervising the TTs is something he could do, and wouldn’t be bad side action, I don’t think it’s enough meat for a full on direction for him.

Feels more like just a subplot (at best) in his book + becoming a supporting character in the TT book.

nope, not a full on direction. It was something along the line of getting him to work with "younger generation" and mentoring them that seems to be a theme. Wouldn't be his main gig.

If he is going to be a real member of a team, it has to be JLA or a revamped Titans that is actually an indepented, grown-up, not answering to anyone else and stopping major threats themselves kind of team... If it is the same old same old "leading the junior branch of JLA" stuff he wont be getting anywhere...

This is why I want him away from the Titans; I dont know if DC *or* the fans are completely capable of seeing the Titans as a fully independent, important, relevant team. I think, right this moment, the Titans stigma is too thick. I'd like to see the franchise put on the shelf for a while, let the dust settle. Bring the Titans name back with a proper, competent direction with a creative team that is genuinely interested, engaged, and wants to see the name truly matter again.

I think right now Dick needs a new team. The League would be lovely, assuming the writer/s don't go the lazy way and make Dick play sidekick again. But I think something new and fresh is in order; a new name, no expectations or preconceptions.

Thats just me of course. And I do think someone could make the Titans be total badasses. I'd just rather see original and new right now rather than see the greatest hits, even if they're played well.

The problem with the League is it will always be Batman’s team. It isn’t really going to provide Nightwing real new opportunities. An altogether new team would be better.

And when it comes to the Titans, the Titans and the Teen Titans need not to exist at the same time.

I keep saying : a child talon from the court of owls. They will be a way for him to discover his origins and give him a family out of Bruce’s control. Romance is not something fruitful or what I ever want for him ever at this rate.

I'm not sure which page we discussed it, but in a world where Dick becomes more involved with Haly's again (like our joint idea of Dick opening up Haly's Casino and Circus in Bludhaven), Mr Haly has a unique ability as a character to immediately slot in with a fair bit of assumed history and grandfatherly/wise old uncle relationship.

I'd be leery of a brand-new character who would steal panel space and attention away from Dick, but a little kid might be workable.

I dunno what this "joint idea" stuff is. As far as I'm aware, that was your baby all the way and all the rest of us have done is contribute some ideas to it.

I mean, if you ever go pro and use the idea by all means give me credit for my part.

The Outsiders could be a good team for Dick, but I dunno if they really have all that much brand power left to them. I'd be fine with it, don't get me wrong, but would it be *that* big a benefit v. a new team name?

It is an interesting idea. It'd definitely work with Dick's history and character really well.
