So at the end of Fantastic Four #2, Reed and Sue are met with nearly every living member of the group. Iceman is oddly there which made no sense as he isnt even really considered a FF ally. We get answers to this in #3


Apparently he WAS a member briefly or at least has now been retconned.


An untold tale in the Iceman/Human Torch bromance? I wonder if we will get this story in a flashback story, mini or oneshot

I like this because it kinda leans into how extreme the idea of bringing back every FF member for one fight is by including a random character who might have technically been in or was forgotten about.

I sorta feel they put Iceman in the issue so they would avoid social media backlash of the FF never having a gay member on the team.

In other words Iceman has become the LGBT token of the MU. Milage may very.

they could have simply made one of the C/D-listers into being gay. I highly doubt Iceman was here as a backdoor way to retcon the FF as having gay representation. His sexuality doesnt even come into play

FF already has a trans supporting character so yeah that seems unlikely. Also I don't see lots of backlash coming from something like this. But maybe I'm just missing it.

I could see the backlash on twitter happening for it. That's pretty much where a majority of MU Writers live now of days. I'm almost positive that is the reason for it.

Iceman may get use on the FF later but his random presences... on a team that "large" ....and barley doing anything feels a lot like how they have used Falcon, Bishop, and a few other black characters over the years. Instead of giving those characters actual depth and purpose they where there to check some box.

But not trying to make a thing of it. Just sorta felt that way when I read it.
