My hands down favorite was The Riddler (Frank Gorshin) He was just so over the top and goofy and campy. just what the show was meant to be. Astin Riddler was just so god awful.

Newmar was by far the best Catwoman and the second best in the show. Were the rumors of her and Adam West having an afair or was that just gossip?

I have to go with Julie Newmar. She made me feel things.

    This, word for word.

I went for the Riddler, I use to watch the re-runs and he resonated with me as a child....Looks like I'm not the only one who felt that way.

It's Julie Newmar Catwoman by a significant margin. Seven year old Jimmy would be mad at me if I picked anyone else--Catwoman was my absolute fave as a kid.

After that it's definitely Burgess Meredith as Penguin--the greatest actor to ever play the character and the most comic book accurate.

Then it's a thick pack of contenders. Marsha Queen of Diamonds--Carolyn Jones perfection. Vinnie Price as Egghead and Vic Buono as King Tut were both goofy fun. Liked Cesar Romero as the Joker--it just bothered seven year old Jimmy that he kept his moustache.

Those are the favourites. Frank Gorshin's Riddler annoyed seven year old Jimmy. Now I can appreciate the brilliance of his performance--but I have to respect the wisdom of my seven year old self.

Growing up I was pretty poor, so only ever watched my shows on really small b&w sets; I never even realized Joker had a stache until I was way older and enjoying the luxury of large screen color TVs.
And yeah, it was a little weird seeing the lip worm!

Did anybody realize while watching Victor Buono as King Tut for the first time that he was about ten years younger than Adam West? I couldn't believe it when he died years ago that he was only four years older than my parents.

I never realized it myself, though I started watching the show prior to acquiring eyeglasses.

When I wasn't jumping on the couch in my mask, Batman T-shirt, utility belt and cape, I was sitting about six inches from the screen. I didn't need glasses at the time (two years later I had to get them--is there a connection?). Our black & white T.V. had a fairly big picture tube for the times, but I think the Joker's moustache was more obvious to me in the colour pictures in the Batman Topps photo bubble gum cards and in the publicity photos.

I never saw the show or any photos from it in color until many years later, so I never had to scratch my head when I was a little kid as to why Batman had a purplish costume.

I never saw color pics either till much later.
I did have glasses back then, though!

I remember the first time I saw her in the role after seeing Julie as Cabwoman many times already (this would have been sometime in the early '70s). It's funny, but instead of her skin color making me scratch my head, but it was her relative shortness next to the statuesque Newmar.

By the time I started watching the reruns in '69, Batmania had waned quite a bit. I can't recall any merchandise from the show being sold in stores when I was a kid (though there was quite a bit of Bat stuff around, however)r.
