Default Couples that shouldn't work but do

There are couples in movies and tv that on paper make no sense. However, with chemistry and great acting, those couples end up gaining a devoted fanbase as well as some great stories. As a result, those couples usually end up being an important part of any film or show.

Example: Clarke and Lexa on the 100. They were leaders of rival groups, and Lexa even betrayed Clarke at one point, leaving her people to basically die. However, the writers knew what they had, and the fans loved them, so they kept them together until the end. If the actress playing Lexa didn't leave for another job, they would probably still be together.

Vegeta/Bulma in Dragonball. Like most couples in the series they were awkwardly put together, but they've actually shown some tender moments between the two that makes them look more developed than Goku/Chichi

Vegeta and Bulma is a good one. I'd also nominate Android 18 and Krillin. They were also awkwardly put together, but, they're even closer than Vegeta and Bulma. It also helps that both are very supportive of one another (though it's mostly 18 being supportive).
