The only thing I can figure is that Disney wants to beef up their MCU content ahead of the launch of the streaming service. AoS doesn't have high ratings by network standards, but it is the highest rated of all the MCU TV series, and it's also the launching point for Ghost Rider, which has the potential to be a big hit.

I don't know about Ghost Rider since they already confirmed they're ignoring AoS.

Just had a thought on Coulson, in part inspired by CBR's speculation.


Perhaps "Sarge" is the alternate future version of Coulson from the erased future timeline somehow? After all, Daisy "saved" Coulson in that version of events, although that ended up with Graviton destroying the planet.

The line "I've been to a lot of planets, but this is the first time someone has recognized my face before" makes me think he's more distant than that.
