Default What is your Marvel comic book run of the year

as of right now.... can be a current or completed run

(It doesn't have to be a run that started in 2018, necessary but if you are choosing a run that started before 2018, make sure you are basing your answers on the quality of the 2018 issues of that run)

asked DC side, time to ask you guys

I'm gonna give it to Tony Stark: Iron Man, since I can't see the true shape of Amazing Spider-Man yet. I think it's also the strongest year for Jason's Thor.

Apart from awful characterization of Thanos in CGR and Thanos Wins , I only liked Cates's Venom . But my favorite run was certainly Al Ewing's Immortal Hulk . It may be one of the best incarnation of Hulk in years .

Tough to decide between Coates' Captain America and Rosenberg's Punisher. Both have been absolutely stellar.

Mark Waid’s run on Doctor Strange. Full of interesting twists and turns, and the Doc is behaving like the Doc again.

If you would have asked me about a month or two ago, I would have given the nod to Cates’ Venom. However, the last several issues have really solidified Al Ewing’s Immortal Hulk as my pick of the year!

    My top three in order:
    Al Ewing- Immortal Hulk
    Donny Cates- Venom
    Nick Spencer- Amazing Spider-Man
    AKA FlashFreak
    Favorite Characters:
DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.
MARVEL: Daredevil, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), & Doctor Strange.

    Current Pulls: Not a thing!

It hasn't been a memorable year for my comic book reading and my favorite characters - i found Cates' writing for Thanos and the Inhumans off putting (I couldnt finish any of his runs)
Compared to how Aaron started his run on Thor he has really made the character unremarkable. Soule's DD run is safe and interesting but it wouldn't win run of the year.
The only bright spot was Zub on Champions and Duggan on Infinity Countdown/Wars. I also read Ms Marvel, Black Panther, and i haven't kept with Moon Girl. Overall all these books range between really average and boring - 2018 is not a good year for me to rate Marvel Comics

    Immortal Hulk easily the best.
    Dr Strange the next best.

Those are all great choices. Probably my top three as well, if not necessarily in that order. Couldn't pick one above the others.

If I had to pick a #1 from that bunch, I might have to go with ASM just because Spidey's my favorite character and I've been so impressed with how effortlessly Spencer has taken over the book and injected it with a whole new energy. Still, Hulk and Venom are so freaking awesome.

And on top of that, Coates' Captain America, Waid's Doctor Strange, and Aaron's Thor and Avengers runs (his first Avengers arc was ok in my book, if a bit stiff, but the last four issues have kicked it into a whole other gear) would also be in contention.

It's been a really good year for Marvel books.
