Default DC Book Of The Month Club

    Hi all!

A few of us wanted to start a “book”of the month club. We will vote on an arc or trade to all read and will discuss our thoughts, etc.

We will start next month and have several options for anyone that may be interested. If you are interested please rank the three stories, with one being most interested, for our first book to read and discuss.

    The three options are:
“Sins of the Father” - Starman issues 0-3 by James Robinson

“Justice Be Done” - JSA issues 1-5 by Goyer/ Robinson

If we want to go big for our first one, “Kingdom Come” by Mark Waid
    AKA FlashFreak
    Favorite Characters:
DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.
MARVEL: Daredevil, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), & Doctor Strange.

    Current Pulls: Not a thing!

I haven't read any of these in years, but I'm leaning toward Kingdom Come as well.
I will enjoy reading it again.

    Hell yeah.

Also Kingdom Come seems like a good start. A classic that everyone should revisit regularly.

This looks like the regular meeting of the Wally West fans. lol.

But seriously it looks like it's leaning towards Kingdome come but my vote goes to Starman since I haven't read it yet. And it's the first chronologically.

Since CBR began as the Kingdom Come Message Board, I think it would only be fitting to start with Kingdom Come as the first choice.

So far Kingdom come is the heavy favorite, it is a great story after all
    Kingdom Come-4
    Starman- 2

We can always do Starman in January. I will leave voting open through tomorrow in case anyone else wants to jump in. Then I will try to figure out a schedule for the winning book by Friday (I’m assuming Kingdom Come), for us to tackle through December.

I like this idea, I'm in even though the first three choices are not really my cup of tea.

I'll go with Kingdom Dome, I've never read it cause I'm not fond of elseworlds, parallel futures, multiverses etc. but I know it's a great work and it could be the right opportunity to go through it.

People vote if you're interested in talking about some awesome comics.

Not a poor choice among them, but I'll go for Starman because I've read the other two again more recently and it'd be fun to swing discussion back to Opal City. Not to mention it's been a while since Robinson wrote something for DC that got widespread acclaim so it'd give newer readers a chance to see why us older fans may have a soft spot for him, Cry for Justice notwithstanding.

    Ok final tally:
    Kingdom Come-5
    Starman-3

We will do Kingdom Come for December and Starman will be our January book.

    Format:
Kingdom Come was a four issue mini-series if I remember correctly.
    Issue 1- Dec. 2nd- Dec. 8th.
    Issue 2- Dec.9th- 15th.
    Issue 3- Dec. 16th-22nd.
Issue 4- Dec. 23rd-29th (This one may be tricky with Christmas being that week).

Looking forward to this with both books as I didn’t have anyone to discuss with the first time I read through these fantastic stories.
