It seems to be both, actually. I watched the panel, and Kevin Feige introduced Lily as "Hope Van Dyne", and then when Lily spoke about her character, she referred to her as "Hope Pym", and Feige didn't correct her. At least that settles who her parents are I suppose they'll go for the "I'm mad at you for some reason, so I take mom's name" bit.

Or maybe twins?

It seems to me that it’s almost inevitable that Hope Van Dyne will be the Wasp in the MCU. I’m sure she’ll be very much like the Janet Van Dyne character from the comics, to the point where – personality wise – they’ll be the same. Her MCU look will thereafter likely just be applied to Janet in the comics.

That's just great. It would be just another WhatIf? Janet had never become the Wasp, but her daughter did, story. And Hank never became an Avengers, but was too old by that time. Where is the point of Hank Pym, Giant Man?

One thing that always bothered me about a 120 foot Giant man walking around a city is that there is no avoiding stomping on people and cars, because he has to put his feet down on the road, and I suppose the movie producers are not going to go there.

Well, Hank would have had to meet Janet 20 years before the movie Marvel Age, for them to have a daughter, so Ant-Man and the Wasp never existed, just a scientists and his wife. There would have been no stress about performance issue with the Avengers, so no Janet beatings, and because Tony invented Ultron, then, Pym never gets blamed for the worst villain in creation.

If you mean, "Why are people stressing over the details", I'd say because the Hank Pym fans are getting short changed here. We will not see a super hero Hank Pym, just a remnant of a past not realized.

they said they were not including spousal abuse in the movie so I am not going to spend time working that into the character's backstory. He is passing on the ant man suit so there could be a former WASP
