In the movie they had to give Kong a massive power up by making him manipulate electricity to have him stand a chance against Godzilla. In this current age of cinema one cant get away with that without some snob saying that it looks cheesy.

Just a massively interesting side note. The film was initially conceived as King Kong vs FRANKENSTEIN. They couldn't get full rights to Frankenstein as Universal owned the rights to his iconic design. So the electricity was probably just a hold over from the original script where it makes sense for Frankenstein to use it.

Its a giant monster movie. They're not supposed to be ground in realism. Otherwise you might aswell just take out giant monsters entirely

Don't get carried away. Kong is not the size of a kaiju. Kong climbs up skyscrapers but Godzilla knocks them over.

If Godzilla can go toe-to-toe with Charles Barkley, King Kong can get an upgrade/retcon/etc. to go toe-to-toe with Godzilla!
