Maybe Angel's human side is what's keeping the Hellmouth closed? If he leaves, the Hellmouth opens. A greater-stakes play on the meta commentary star-crossed lover scenario.

Essentially, keeping the Hellmouth closed requires a caretaker. And that caretaker has to be a rare breed of demon that has happens to have a soul (in this scenario half-breeds like Doyle would be quite rare). Making any movement to free Angel difficult.

No Oz? He was one of my favorites. : (

Anyway, a modern day version of the "Hush" episode would be so much easier for everyone would just be able to text each other.

I feel like you could just have the hush spell take down telephones and the internet as well.

I could have sworn this was supposed to come out last Wednesday. Looks like it's not coming out until the 23rd now, was it delayed at some point or was I mistaken?

I'm still very much excited for this book, the post TV series comics from Dark Horse didn't really do much for me post after season Nine but I think a modern re-imagining will do the franchise some good. Maybe even brainstorm some ideas for the potential TV reboot.
Continuity, even in a "shared" comics universe is often insignificant if not largely detrimental to the quality of a comic.

So, #1.... I liked it but I was always more interested in Angel’s whole “Dark Avenger” shtick- (Quickly To The Angelmobile! Away!) and Spike as he was roughly around Season 4, than Anya, always liked Giles though, so always nice to see him be totally oblivious to the idea of socialising

Bought the first issue, I thought it was alright. Not a lot to say to be honest, I think I'm going to have to reserve judgement until the first story arc concludes.

Explaining the thought process behind the revamped Drusilla in another interview, wanting her to be "dominant and powerful" also seems to miss the point and appeal of Dru. Why not just use Darla for the Mistress twist? She was actually around at that point, and it'd be a chance to use her later appearances as inspiration and apply it to her time in Sunnydale. She was a flat character in BtVS season 1, but Greenwalt and Minear turned her into arguably the best member of the Fanged Four. This sounds like it has the potential of consolidating three separate characters (Dru, Darla and the Master) into one bland substitute.

I liked the idea of Darla being the Master.

I hate the choice. The Master and the classic Order of Aurelius were perfect foils for Buffy and her crew. The Order was obsessed with ritual and doing everything by the book whereas Buffy & her crew rejected that in favor of a more fly by the seat of your pants approach. The Master perfectly represented old world patriarchal authority whereas Buffy subverted that trope. Furthermore, the Master was a terrifying monster in both appearance and action. He was an ideal first enemy for the yet to be tempered Buffy. I think changing these aspects as well as ignoring the importance of Angel to the mythos are major mistakes. I'll, however, reserve final judgment until I've read a few more issues. So far, I'm very disappointed with this reboot.

    I’m loving this reboot!

First of all the art is amazing. I’m a big fan of Dan Mora and his ability to capture the characters’ likenesses without being stiff and photorealistic and keeping the action superheroic is fantastic! His clothing style choices are also great.

I’m enjoying the writing too. The dialogue is fun and snappy without trying to mimic Whedon’s voice.

I like the different choices that are being made as well. It will be fun to see how the characters we know and love react to variations of favourite storylines and totally new situations.

I agree that Dru is a bit of a drastic change but let’s reserve judgement for now.

Let’s be honest, the Darkhorse stuff was getting super convoluted and this new modern day reboot is refreshing!

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I enjoyed it very much. In one issue obviously the characterizations of the majorly revamped characters (Anya, Dru) have yet to be fully explored so I fully reserve judgment on those changes. But at face value thus far its not bad. At face value Anya being older now doesn't bother me, and Dru being a leader doesn't bother me either. But again, we'll see.

OK, this was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I like the art so much better than the recent Dark Horse series. The only thing I really didn't like was the weird misdirect. I'd love to see Olivia and Frey at some point down the road.
