The snap-together ones? For my seventh birthday back in '72, I got the Allosaurus, Neanderthal Man, and also the Saber-Tooth Tiger.
Yeah. I started getting them in 73-74 when I was 7-8. Had those ones, the Wooly Mammoth and Rhino, The triceratops, the swamp set, and the Cro-Magnon Woman.

My Grampa was cool about getting me all the girl models and toys when I wanted them. Was into models a lot until I started collecting Megos in 74 and on.

    The Look of Love.

National Romance Group--DC imprint from 1957 to 1962. House ad from HEART THROBS 54 (June-July 1958).

"Reach for Happiness" ongoing soap opera begins in SECRET HEARTS 110, on sale January 6th, 1966.

"First issue" of LOVE STORIES on sale September 26, 1972. Actually issue 147, as it continued from HEART THROBS, which had started out as a Quality Comics title before being acquired by DC in 1956. As LOVE STORIES the title only survived for another year.

I remember all of them, especially the latter. Even as a kid I thought she was hot.

"Reach for Happiness" featured the art of Jay Scott Pike, a prolific romance and pin-up artist.

He also created Dolphin for SHOWCASE 79 in 1968.

He was one of the better artists of that time. I especially loved his work on Dolphin.

Rather than singling out only one honoured individual, here's the full page for the ACBA Awards announcement in the November 1971 cover dated issues--

O'Neil and Adams looked young courtesy of whichever artist drew them, but the other guys were made to look old--especially Bob Oksner, yet he was fifty-five at the time. I thought he was a senior citizen based on that pic and every year after that I was amazed he was still around. In fact he lived until 2007, passing away at ninety.

Thanks, Jim. I thought there was more to it, but I couldn't find it.
