These are some of the earliest DC house ads on the Internet I can remember seeing.

    Not as advertised:

A King Arthur series, by Gerry Conway and Nestor Redondo, was advertised in September 1975 DC issues, but the series never happened.

An ongoing VIXEN series, by Gerry Conway and Bob Oksner, was advertised in 1978, but never happened on account of the DC Implosion (it was published in the limited Xerox edition, CANCELLED COMIC CAVALCADE No. 2).

Everyone knows that Neal Adams drew the wrap-around cover for "Superman Vs Muhammad Ali," ALL-NEW COLLECTORS' EDITION No. C-56, released in early 1978, but Adams was working from a cover design by Joe Kubert, which was used to promote the tabloid on the Direct Currents page for AMAZING WORLD OF DC COMICS No. 12 (July 1976), a year and a half earlier.

They so need to get back to these teasing pieces of art on the reg. They've done it before sparingly in recent years, Countdown and Battle For the Cowl come to mind, but they don't nearly do them enough. I consider them the comic equivalent of trailers.

    Right?
And I would've... but unfortunately, I was oblivious to what 'selected outlets' meant back then and never could find it anywhere.

It was still four more years before I discovered comic shops existed.

These old ads were how I decided what to go digging for in back issue bins.

Yeah, I'd like to know where that ad for Detective Comics #1 came from in particular. Since that's the first ever DC comic, the ad can't be from a DC comic book!
