How many issues is this arc?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
This felt more like an epilogue than a real issue to me, but the art was beautiful.
It really was. I think if you read 10 and 11 back to back it would work much better. But that doesn't address the shortcomings of it as a single issue, let alone one starting an arc. The last arc, at that.
I'm increasingly worried about how satisfyingly this is going to end.
I've been worrying about that for most of TDYK. Everything feels like a rush to the finish without putting in the time or effort to give character to the cast. Even Hellboy feels like an afterthought. Where Hellboy In Hell probably benefited from a quicker ending and carried some emotional heft, BPRD needed time and room to breathe, even in crisis-mode. King of Fear was a crisis-mode miniseries and it still felt like the characters could have personalities and struggles.I'm increasingly worried about how satisfyingly this is going to end.
Maybe the last four issues will be much more intelligent and introspective, but at the moment I'm somewhat disillusioned. This is not the end I thought we would get two or three years ago.
