Way to go, Chad! Thanks also to Enigmatic Undead for voting for my cover and CaptCleghorn for an honorable mention.

On a personal note, Popeye is the first cartoon I can recall seeing and watching regularly (at age two).

Congratulations to ChadH for a cover which shows us the inner workings of the most famous vehicle in superherodom. Or at least one of them, anyway. I can easily imagine how excited kids would be to see this on the stands back in 1949 and actually getting a grown-up look at a car they thought of only in fantasy.

And now, what has the captain learned this week? He has seen a surprising number of covers where buildings are actually going up. Like most weeks, the number of covers exceeds what i though was possible. But in looking further into this, the comic itself is a construction and some of us have realized that. Certainly any of us who have actually worked on one (either professionally or amateur) know the necessity of building story then art, then detailing and dialogue. These covers this week are analogies of that to me and they bring back memories of my heyday in the black and white boom of the eighties.

Thanks go out to The Darknight Detective and Rob Allen for their votes.

Thanks everyone! Thank you Ravin' Ray for the fun subject this week
It's been a while since I won one of these things. I'll try to come up with a good topic for the next one.
I'll post it later tonight after work.

Congrats to the keeper of the (Cover Contest Winners) flame, namely ChadH!

Okay, this cover (below) was submitted this week and has shown up before in earlier Contests. But it's not a comic...or a collected volume of comic book issues...or a graphic novel à la Maus, or Persepolis.

It's a reprint of Shelley's famous novel--with pages and pages of words, text--with a cover by Wrightson and some striking illustrations by him inside.

So...is this something that's eligible for our cover contests? Asking for a friend

Based on the fact that there are only illustrations and not actual panels with word balloons and such, I'm leaning towards no. And this is from me who will go out of my way to allow something.
