I hate how the CW craps all over the source material. Yeah, it's nice to have a Batwoman show, but this will really just be 'Another Lady in a Batman-inspired outfit'. Why bother?

Anyone remember the Patience Phillips Catwoman? I didn't until someone in one of the other threads brought it up.

At the very least I hope they plan to give Ryan her own Batsuit, so she has a different style and look to Kate in costume, I know they'll have to start her off in Kate's suit of course.

Better for both characters to have their own distinct style anyway.

This is just speculation, but does anyone else think the new Batman Spin-off is going to hobble the Batwoman series even more?

I mean, they are both set in Gotham, and no doubt this other series will take precedent, and have a higher budget.

Which could mean going into season 2, on top of the other issues - the Batwoman series could be further restricted in which villains, storylines, and supporting characters from the Batman universe that they are allowed to use.

Doubt it. Sounds like Gotham (the cop show) 2.0; now with a nod to a movie that wants not be connected to anything. I guess they will have their own problems for either being too much like Gotham or too hard trying to be different and not giving the feel of a Gotham setting in the process.

AFAIK the actress is gay; or bi. So chances are her character will be too.

It looks like they want to cash in on that situation; but sadly in the cheapest way possible by (sorry) what feels like crapping all over an established and beloved character.

If they where actually honest about it they would make either a new show with an original new superhero or pick an POC hero like Vixen or GL Cruz or Black Narcissus from DCs rooster and do her justice.

Black Narcissus AFAIK is a new character; introduced in Cyborg Rebirth. Besides her background there shes mostly a blank slate which means they could develop a lot of unique story with and around her without ruffling any "thats not like in the CBs!!!1" feathers.

But of course its a risk since shes basically unknown so they cowardly pick the "take a known brand and hope it flys well; consequences to the known brand be damned!" route. As usual. And even have the guts to call that progressive on top of it. Its not progressive. Its cheap, its cowardly, and disrespectful; borderline racist, to the brand and to the PoC which get told "you are not good enough for your own unique character" not in words but in action. And all the world is applauding. Its saddening

I thought Rose was a pure lesbian. I think the problem was that she expressed she was at times gender-fluid.
