Man, the writing in All New X-Men is so good, compared to Extraordinary which feels very flat and reads like garbage, even the Ghost of Cyclops are more fun to read than anyone from the 'Extra-cast', and with Tyke out of his 'whiney phase', which i personally felt was good/interesting for the sake of his development and was written very well despite his and everyones hate-on for adult Cyke, things can only get better from now on for Tyke and ANXM, just hope the sales are decent enough so it doesn't get cancelled too early.

Well I was also satisfied with the issue, Tyke got over being a whiny teen real quick. He held up for those good for nothing ghosts of cyclops, Hank McCoy was actually a good friend that wouldn't give up on Scott, and it seems tyke's gonna carry the book. SPeaking of sales, all neww didn't got as many variants as the other X books so the sales for #1 weren't as inflated as the other X books, I think it'll find it's footing on the third issue since it seemed like a decent conclusion, only it's rogue's gallery doesn't convince me... Laura or warren could curbstomp toad or blob real fast, and so could Tyke; but overall is a decent alternative to inhumanxtraordinaryxwreck...

My take on ANXM would've been a way more controversial one, would've kept cyclops sword skills from his solo run to begin with. I think it'd started with laura and the rest of the X men investigating attacks on mutants on different states, then she'd discover that those mutants are part of a pseudo terrorist organization that goes by the "ghost of cyclops" and wears to X bandages, with no traces so far since the attacker seems to be really skilled, then all go back to their base and the X men turn on the TV since there's been a reveal on the attacks.

Switch to tyke sitting on a restaurant with the same girl, but he has been tracking those ghost for weeks, and has given the data to the media, so there are a lot of reporters ready to cover them. The ghosts starts speaking but Tyke jumps in and single handedly beats them one by one without even using his powers, just melee and the sword he got from space, using quips that remark how unskilled and misguided they are and that they shouldn't be using their powers for personal gain and chaos, after beating all of them but one; he removes their faces bandages and tells to the press something like : "I'm cyclops, back to life and to action, mutants around the world are misguided; they've misinterpreted my words and are using their powers to break havok, to those mutants; I'll give you the chance to see the error of your ways and lay down your symbols to me, you'll learn how to use your powers for the benefit and protections of humanity of mutantkind; or face the consequences by my blade" after that he'll draw a lot of those X face bandages from his backpack on throw them to the air; and to end the issue a journalist will ask him "Cyclops, you and one army are gonna stop those trouble makers", he'll answer: "this army" at the same time the rest of the ANXM teleport to him... thus ending the issue

Overall they'd have a tense relationship because cyclops has been hunting mutants and declared war on a mutant group in live TV; plus there's nothing lighthearted about it, or the idea of tyke being a mutant hunter...

    ANXM #3 quick review...

•Three issues and the intro arc's done. Great start. Lemire's EXM could learn a thing or two.
•Tyke is over his darkness and self-hate. Finally.
•Yet still more Cyclops Is Evil crap without any evidence.
•Tyke's speech that diffused the standoff was nice but the cops really should have blown the Ghosts away.
•Laura going in and knocking everyone unconscious seems like the best course of action.
•Nice to see Warren cop to his mistake.
•Beastie Boy. Aw. You almost make me forget your disgusting older self. Almost.
•Idie and Evan are still grossly underused.

I thought that was a great moment for Tyke as well. As Cyclops, there's always some crap that's gonna make him have down moments but when he realizes that people are gonna get killed if he does nothing, he nuts and shuts up those other problems and goes to work. I do feel though it woulda been great if the issue ended with Cyke looking away from the others with some dark shading over his head, just to show that his issues aren't gone, just put on hold for now. And maybe had him see his new suit.
    Le Suck it, Dolphin!

Tyke'll probably suit up to face Toad and Blob.
I don't think Tyke's over his issues but he's back with his friends and realizes he doesn't have to go through said issues alone.

Ok, so after reading both ANX and EX it's pretty clear that these first arcs were a huge Cyclops whinefest. Lemire almost copied Cyclops speeches out of Bendis run and pasted in Storms mouth. Both books are silly, there's nothing new about them and the Cyclops hate is beyond annoying. The only book I'm picking is Uncanny.

For Cyclops fans it's going to be a long time until something interesting happens. I don't believe in the Quentin Quire theory and this hate has been going on for so long that I don't think Marvel intends to bring him out of nowhere and turn him into a hero again. Unfortunately it is what it is. We are stuck with insecure, whiny teenage Cyclops. It's not even Ruckas Tyke. It's made-for-young-readers Cyclops.

I think ANXM's goal to be the happy X-Book seems to be working, and not in a 'made-for-young-readers' way. Who hasn't felt like Tyke in some form or fashion at any age?

Storm's speech came off to me more as, "I'm not like Cyclops! I'm not! He was EEEEEEEEVIL! We're not bad mutants! We're the good mutants! Please don't hurt us or we'll... defend ourselves or something inoffensive." Nothing in Storm's speech is any different from the speeches Cyclops gave under Gillen or Bendis. Protecting all of humanity, not being willing to accept violence against mutants, etc. apart from trying to paint her X-Men as the 'good' ones. Regurgitated and partly digested speech.

Whew... Extraordinary #5 was straight garbage. It's amazing how Lemire quadruples-down on the stupidity and then tosses in some real squicky shit with OML and Jeen to end it all. I wouldn't even use this trash to line a litter box.

Well i have dodged EXM for the first arc now and still nobody has recommended it to me and most reviewers are giving it lukewarm reviews. Worse yet Marvel is not releasing a hardcover version of the trade paper bag. When has the flagship X title not have a hardcover version? It seems the best thing i can do is to continue enjoying ANXM while putting all my eggs on the UXM basket, long live those lovely porn faces!
Also i don't think we're done with the Cyke whinefest just yet. Just look at the cover.

Damn, Warren's energy wings are sexy...
    Oh. Sorry. Wrong thread.

One factor in enjoying UXM is the complete lack so far of bitching about how bad Cyclops and his unknown actions are/were.

Another cover with the terrorist Cyclops as an antagonist not know how to react to such creativity .On the other hand get more and more surprised at the effort they make to vilify him comes to be funny sometimes.

Or they think these covers deceive readers with a supposed appearance of him and the explanation of his disappearance?

I am going to add to the voices and say that EXM was pure garbage. I don't have anything against storm but she doesn't feel like a good lider for the x-men right now, lets see if marvel trow her some hard choices like with cike and xavier or they will be to concerned into preserving her image. Her speech at the end was terrible and like everybody said before I think she just recycled an old cyclops speech.

I find it so ironic that people won't stop whining about how whiny Tyke has been.

And if Tyke hadn't been whiny, they'd complain his reaction to adult Cyclops becoming enemy #1 wasn't realistic.

Storm's speech was straight up lifted from Cyke's letter to the world when he formed the Extinction Team.

It tends to be the case when your favorite character is dragged through the mud for an extended period of time. Happens to everyone.

Dude, everyone's reaction to adult Cyclops now is unrealistic. Which other character in fiction has received this much on-page hate for something unknown that happened off-page?
