The DLC's just going to be "more X-men", "more Marvel Knights" (street level types like Punisher I'm guessing), and the Fantastic Four.

For a few reasons. I've seen some use the "play as all your favorite Marvel heroes" as a selling point. Not a single one of my favorites is up there. (1 will be DLC, 1 MIGHT be.)
I don't think Loki, Magneto, and Venom should be taking up slots in the game. Villains should be DLC rather than base roster.
Do we really need 3 incredibly similar Spider-characters? Why not Jess instead of Gwen?
Its heavy on the MCU (25/36 if Thanos being unlocked post game is real.) and they're already in everything else.

So no vision or ant-man after all? Loki and thanos (if thanos is the last unlock) are a let down to me. In lego games it's ok but I want heroes for this one not more bad guys. Songbird, moon knight, squirrel girl, vision, ant-man, sherri, black knight plus tons of heroes they could use and they waste it with loki and thanos? At least magneto is a X-Men. Also why would thanos fight himself?

Thanos and loki confirmed. Ugh. Also no costume unlocks. You just change the color of their outfits but no costumes. It's a lame color swap! Costumes if they are in would be dlc. Again ugh.

This and the Avengers game from Square are just big let downs.

Black Bolt, Medusa, Valkyrie, and Vision are in the base game group for playable characters and will most likely be added soon after release.

Its a sad thing when LEGO games have more satisfying rosters.

Imagine comparing MUA3 to a Lego game where it takes a minute to design a character.

venom and loki have been anti-heroes for this entire decade, magneto and thanos work with heroes all the time, doom could be playable, too

Okay, with this I think it might be reasonable to assume that any significant NPC's with models will end up being playable at some point with DLC.

venom and loki have been anti-heroes for this entire decade, magneto and thanos work with heroes all the time, doom could be playable, too

and they're all very, very popular

Not to mention villains have been playable in Ultimate Alliance games before.
