Black Bolt, Medusa, Valkyrie, and Vision are in the base game group for playable characters and will most likely be added soon after release.



Imagine comparing MUA3 to a Lego game where it takes a minute to design a character.

This doesn't exactly confirm that the game will have 49 characters but that the game engine currently allows 49 dlc characters at max. It's up to Team Ninja/Marvel on whether they want to fill it up. If the game sells well along with the confirmed DLC then I think it has a good chance of getting up to that number.

Not a fan of loki and thanos in this game but they get a pass as we have other heroes to play as. Thing that lets me down is no costumes other then color swaps. I LOVED unlocking them in the first two games plus you got other heroes like the second ms marvel, phantom rider and red hulk you could play as. It got them in the game. Some people are saying the costumes may be dlc. I hope we get them but the fun of them was unlocking them adding more playtime to the game and just buying them takes that away.

The "There's too many MCU characters" thing doesn't really mean much to me because we're at a point where pretty much every important non-X-Men or Fantastic Four-related character has been in the MCU. Most of the characters included in the game are people you'd reasonably expect to see even without a movie.

Guess that means no Jessica Jones as a Marvel Knight. Bit of a bummer but okay. Since the FF DLC is basically a given, I think the remaining X-Men DLC will be:
