Schism was the start of a period mostly known for lacking good stories. The event lead to a division that hurt the entire X-line of comics for a long time.

Oh I cosign tf out of this mess. If the writers can find a way to also throw in the intensity and long form pacing of Messiah Complex, this could be the feel good hit of the next 3 years.

It doesn't help that Wolverine just came across looking like one tremendous hypocrite and was the absolutely wrong person to lead the opposing side. He was the WORST sort of strawman for the "Kids Shouldn't Fight" camp (y'know, because Kitty, Jubilee, Armor, Laura...).

Schism.... With Jean being Wolverine, kids should not fight.
Armor being Cyclops in a way but will end up messing up and x man wins. Right... No one saw that coming.

Then AOA... I am Just glad Cyclops will not be part of AOX-man, unless him and Logan saved the day. Lol Armor was right.. Umm no.

It didn't help that Logan's school was under constant assault and Scott's side wasn't shown using those child soldiers that caused Logan to revolt.

Another problem with Schism is the Hellfire Brats.

I could go on forever about the Heckfire Clubhouse. They should have been something more interesting like bankrolling an entire next generation of young heroes or something. Nope. They decide to sell Sentinels and twirl the facial hair they didn't develop yet.
