It's because of their Elf Eyes man.

Where humans and dwarves see the edge of the horizon and think that the earth must be curved, or we'd be able to see all of it, elves can actually see all of it. That's why they can sail to Valinor.

    Makes perfect sense.

Well, it WAS flat for most of their existence, so they actually have a point. And the Straight Path is just that.

Legolas doesn't only have the ability to be weightless. He actually has complete density control. That is why he is able to stand on the chain and prevent the troll from pulling it away in the fight in Moria. Someone with the apparent weight of Orlando Bloom would be childs play for the troll to pull off the ledge.

So Elf Thighs are also a thing.
Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran
