These posters imply explicit direct manipulation of character's pasts by an unknown party. Original Sin was just "here's a thing that happened."

It sounds more like there was involvement in these events that the characters were previously unaware of during these seminal times that are finally coming to light now (like some of the Original Sin revelations).

Or the alternative culprit, based on the fiery "who" can either be Phoenix Logan or Mephisto, the former being at the center of a ton of retcons and the latter pulling one of the most famous retcons.

You could tell a completely harmless story about someone finding frozen Steve early in a backup. That one is actually really soft.

In fairness outside of the posters we haven't even had a preview of this so it's a little bit early to be saying things like ''badly executed'' or ''poorly written'' at this point.
