Can we all agree that all the Supers get treated badly in the crossovers to make the other characters look good?

It's pretty subjective, but the youtuber has Christopher Reeve the tallest, followed by Brandon Routh and then Tom Welling.

I don't believe that Superman needs to be tall. I look at the Joe Shuster Superman as being about average height for a man. It's Wayne Boring who made him a head taller. To me it's less about his physical size and more about the bearing of his character.
    Heights of Superman actors.
    Kirk Alyn - 6'1"
    George Reeves - 6'2"
    Christopher Reeve - 6'4"
    Dean Cain - 6'0"
    Tom Welling - 6'3"
    Brandon Routh - 6'2"
    Henry Cavill - 6'1"
    Tyler Hoechlin - 6'0"

It's nice to see Constantine and Jonah Hex in a big DC live-action crossover .

I did not know that. I thought the first live action Superman was George Reeves. I'm guessing Alyn was in a 40's serial.

I agree the characterization is more important but it helps to have a large frame. Just broad shoulders to give you more of a presence. And look even more goofy when your bumbling around hunched over as Clark Kent. Canvil got insanely jacked but he was so compact that Batman and Superman looked much more intimidating phsycialy. But yea it's just nitpicking , if they nail the personality they could physically look like Tyler Hoechlin and it will work for me.

Kirk played Superman in live-action for the 1948 movie serial Superman and its 1950 sequel Atom Man vs. Superman, and General Sam Lane in 1978's Superman: The Movie.

I was thinking that too. I believe that "General" Sam Lane was a Post-Crisis invention.
    Power with Girl is better.

In the TV show Lois & Clark Sam Lane was a doctor who specialized in cybernetics. No military background was mentioned. It wasn't until Smallville he became a general.

It was actually the Post-Crisis Byrne/ Wolfman Superman that made Lois Lane an "army brat" and changed her father into a general. Smallville was the first live action version to go with that take on Sam Lane.
