At least in MC2, Norman Osborn was very clearly and blatantly the villain, nobody was attempting to pass him off as a (superior version of the) hero, and he was defeated in the end by the love of Peter's family combined with Peter's own strength and will.

What if Peter Parker never regained his powers? During Final Adventure, Peter looses his powers trying to cure Tendril and Dryrot and decides to focus on forging a new life with MJ leaving the super hero stuff to Ben. The question here is in these days with Jackal, Norman, and Traveler, would they let Peter stay retired and how much life would the clone Ben have in him?

That would have been interesting. Also, in MC2, Norman Osborn's mental imprint somehow possessed Peter as part of a long and complex plot that included a Venom symbiote-hybrid clone of Mayday as well and was overcome with the love of Peter's family, both living and long-dead. It happened in the last two TPB volumes of Amazing Spider-Girl, titled Brand New May and Maybreak.

I'm very interested in this. Maybe MJ could have stopped Doc Ock from becoming "The Superior Spider-Man", have an important role during Spider-Verse and several other arcs.
