Its not surprising that the film did awful... It was that bad. I used to watch the show and collect the toys. The IDW comic is pretty good. Its a bit different from the cartoon but it still sticks to the spirit of the show but with a more modern twist. I think the characters are pretty faithful. They even made Kimber and Stormer girlfriends - they once broke away in each others respective bands to become a singing duo.
