The main cast of teens (sans Pixie) that are supposed to be the "rebels" are the same ones that fell in line with Wolverine's "listen to authority! don't take action and follow the rules" dogma.

So after reading Alpha, my current thoughts on the minis are:

    -DEFINITELY GOING TO GET:
    -Marvellous X-Men
    -NextGen

    LIKELY TO GET:
    -Amazing Nightcrawler

    WILL TRY:
    -Apocalypse & the X-Tracts
    -X-Tremists

    NOT INTERESTED:
    -Prisoner X

    Interview for NextGen
Don't know if it has been posted yet
    They don't really reveal much.

Quick Question, Don't the Mutant schools usually teach other subjects?

I know silver age Xmen had other classes with Xavier apart from danger roo and power training, I remember Jean acting as Xaviers lab assistant and them taking genetics and history classes in Xmen first class. I know they did that in Wolverine and the X-Men, and New X-Men vol 1 and 2

But I'm not sure about generation X and New mutants.

Cyclops New Xavier Academy is the only one I'm sure was fully dedicated to survival training

There ARE other classes - I think the main point of the interview is that the Summer's Institute DOESN'T teach combat - because its not needed.

    GREAT!

Started it last night, finished it just now, and it deserves every bit of praise it's receiving:

I will be getting ALL the AoXM books now, thanX to Alpha, even the Glob centric NXG. Gonna add one more thing elsewhere, a theory I have, then see what others are thinking here. But before I do, would like to share this issue's parting words, as I think they resonate in a VERY representative way...

... of what AoXM is, and what it means.

Let Psylocke's words take on a larger meaning, and note how him being 'transferred', is visually depicted. That latter part was key for me, and felt like an epiphany.

Exactly this. "Teenage rebellion" is low-hanging fruit as it is. Toss in the fact that, with the possible exception of Marvelous X-Men, every title seems like it's going to deal with rebelling against or subverting X-Man's ideal society, and that's just not description that's helps it stand out from the pack. Worse, it looks like we're going to wind up with another "students vs students" story, and, again, I was not impressed with what Brisson & co. did with that in Disassembled one little bit.

This could be an interesting exploration; there's certainly room to get a nice bit of world-building in re: what it means to grow up without conflict or struggle to define yourself against. And there's nothing here that's setting off warning bells or is a turn-off per se (save for the usual favoritism toward Glob, but that's been a given since the first solits). It's just that, save for To's art, there's just nothing that sounds particularly new or exciting compared to the other minis.

YES, Luckystar comes through with the eXclusives yet again, and the 4th In-Hyuk Lee puzzle piece. Both are just beauteous, and I'm really likin' the official logos for these minis.

Yeah, his image threw me off a lil'. He's kinda got an old school Namor thing goin' on, with too much forehead & too much chin.

Editorial: We must never do anything that would cause characters to age or be perceived as old.

*Northstar appears on official art looking like Dennis Quaid c. 2012*

    Editorial: ....*sigh*
