I know they continued the numbering when John Byrne took over, but as the last issue of Action Comics to feature the pre-Crisis Superman, a run that started back in Nineteen Hunnert and Thirty-goshdarn-EIGHT, I say this counts, goshdarn it!

Only covers that are actually posted count. So this one probably does.

Final issue of the Charlton PHANTOM. The late Don Newton's finest hour.

You can find a bunch of books I wrote stories for here. The weekly column is here.

"I should describe my known nature as tripartite, my interests consisting of three parallel and disassociated groups; a) love of the strange and the fantastic, b) love of abstract truth and scientific logic, c) love of the ancient and the permanent. Sundry combinations of these strains will probably account for my...odd tastes, and eccentricities."

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Though it doesn't say it on the cover, this is the final issue of the original Alpha Flight. The little slice of Canadiana that could (occasionally couldn't, to be fair, but still).
Currently re-reading: Captivology • Currently re-watching: Guardians of the Galaxy • Currently re-heating: brownies in the microwave

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
